A graduate of Iowa State University, she was a three-time academic All-American and a four-year Varsity letter winner as part of the women's golf team. She began honing her golf skills in her hometown of Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada. Matthews-Kane is the PGA General Manager at the Country Club of Colorado located at Cheyenne Mountain Resort, a Dolce Resort, in Colorado Springs.
